Hi all,

Just wandering, if I have X and SSH on my linux box, and I want to
secure my X connections, how do I go about this? Haven't had much luck
finding info. And if so, how do I set up my windows client (running say,
XWin) to connect and use X from myl inux box?

Thanks for any suggestions/help..

regards,
Shane.

Check out http://www.mandrakeuser.org/xwin/xnet.html - there's some info
there on how to do this.

Basically, you want to turn on X tunnelling... Most SSH clients for
win have this option somewhere... That will usually set the display
env. on the remote host automatically - if you have the X server
running on the PC before you SSH over.. Works like a charm for me..
All you have to do on the far end is to start the X apps - or with
certain X servers, you can do a ssh connect automatically and start
an app. (X-Win32 comes to mind...)

This should get you started, http://www.dorward.co.uk/remoteX.html (yes,
blatent self-promotion). All you should need to do under Windows is install
an ssh client.
