I have red hat 5.2 installed. All went fine and all seems to work with exception of one thing.. My screen is way oversized and can get it at a smaller resolution. I think the resolution is at 320 range..I have already went through the xf86config stuff and no good.. This is way to big and i would love to get at least 800X600.. My video car is a Guillemot with a Vodoo Banshee chipset, 16MB and so on. Is a great card in windows but what gives with Linux? Any help is appreciated. I just dont want to give up on it till i have too.. Thanks cameron

I installed red hat 5.2 and had the same problem as well. The problem (most likely) is that you have a virtual screen larger than your actual screen, so you have to edit the X Windows configuration file. It's in /etc/X11/XF86Config file, and you need to go through and comment out all the lines beginning with the word "Virtual" (comment out with a "#"). For more details you can see http://www.xfree86.org/FAQ/#virtual. I also have a Voodoo Banshee video card with 16Mb, but I haven't been able to get the system to run with more than 16 colors. Have you? Any help you could give would be much appreciated. Thanks. try reconfiguring your xserver, select 800x600 at each level of the resolution panel. i forget whether they're 8 bit, 16 bit, 24/32 bit. ---------- In article <7nee4q$jlo$1@oak.prod.itd.earthlink.net>, "Cameron Haines" <camhaines@earthlink.net> wrote: > I have red hat 5.2 installed.
