Hi,

Is it possible to compile the module for a rtl8139 on an Alpha machine
running RedHat 6.0 with kernel 2.2.13 ??
If not, what is the best solution ?
Do I have to us an other kernel ?
Or do I need to buy an other network inteface card ?

Please help me, I tried everything, but I can't seem to select the module
(or even compile it in the kernel) when I do a make config or a make
xconfig. (make menuconfig does not work at all).

Thank you very much in advance

I know about people who use ISDN ISA cards designed for i386 on alpha system
and they use the drivers...

Anyway, you could use the pnp tool on a PC to set it to ne2000 if the
compilation fails. I'm sure ne2000 cards work on alpha (use one myself !!).

Yes.

Don't go to all of that effort. Just read
   http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/rtl8139.html
and
   http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/misc/modules.html

It should take only 3-5 minutes.
