I have a problem with a EXP8C49 mother board and a Cryix586 QFP CPU, with
the CPU clock at 40MHz. (although when it boots up it says the system is
running at 100MHz). , and 32Mb of RAM (non-EDO), non-parity. I cannot get
either a swap partition or swapfile on another partition working in Linux
even though the 'free' command shows that the swap is available, just not
being used. This makes my system very slow and Xwindows or Netscape are
really not practical due to the long delays. Ive tried changing the
-- SRAM configuration from the default 256KB to the 128KB and the 512KB.
The system just hangs on boot with the 512KB cache. The cache options in
the BIOS are enabled.

If you know about this configuration or know a good place for me to look
for info please let me know.

Thanks
