Nice one

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://welcome.to/endeavour_online/

The following error was encountered:

ERROR 312 -- Cannot connect to the server
This means that:

The server might be down, or it could be inaccessible because of a
temporary problem. Please try again later.
If you receive this message frequently, contact your system
administrator.

Chris, you were not the only one to see the same error - this is
a common problem with these "go.to" and "welcome.to" addresses, all
they are redirectors, but the servers have to "live" in the country
that the domain belongs to - which I think in this case is Tonga...
consequently these links are regularly down - I would suggest to
people to include their actual URL rather than one of these
redirectors if you want people to read their site.

Erm, no. Actually it's normally just that the servers are simply too
busy. They don't have to live in some far off place - they can be
positioned wherever you want. Internet routing is done by IP, and you
can point any name at any IP, so the fact that it's name ends .to is
irrelevant when deciding on the location of the server.

try: www.earth.li for example - I can assure you that this machine is
not in Liechtenstein, a traceroute will confirm it's location in an ISP
called 'pair'. the.earth.li lives in Amsterdam, but I don't think it's
plugged in at the moment. Last year there were many .earth.li named
computers that also had .ox.ac.uk names and lived in Oxford - but this
was banned by the university :(

Traceroute suggests www.come.to might be in Holland BTW.

Dave.

It should work, it works for me, and most other people I know,

Sorry, I can't help you there!

Dave.

For some reason Come.to and Welcome.to were not working, they are now.
