"Following the Great War against the Dominion, old fears arose as members of
the Federation Council debated over the role of Starfleet: whether it should
continue its missions of exploration and peacekeeping or whether it should
become a stronger military arm. Then, without notice, the Romulan Empire
launched a massive attack along their portion of the Neutral Zone, causing
massive casualties and the loss of a majority of Federation territory,
including
Earth. A split resulted within the Federation and now two factions,
scattered amongst
the stars, not only fight a common foe in the Romulans to reclaim their
homelands, but fight amongst themselves in a conflict which will change the
course of the Federation forever. Now, you must choose your role in this
great conflict: as a Militarist, believing a stong military might will
ensure peace, or as a Federationalist, who fight to preserve those values
that have kept the peace for hundreds of years. Take the conn, Captain, and
boldly go..."

The Star Trek: Independence Message Board Sim Group (commonly known as STI)
is a group of individuals committed to role playing the Star Trek universe
as they see fit. Based in the TNG/DS9/VOY eras, STI allows members to Role
Play as any one of the races included in the Star Trek universe, including
Terran, Klingon, and Romulan among many others. Not only does the STI
include FMS (Fully Manned Ships) role play, but we also allow an SPPS (Ship
Per Person Sim) option where you can control an entire crew by yourself.

The Federationalists, our enemies in this war, wish to preserve the ways
that have
governed the United Federation of Planets from its beginning. However, my
fellow
Militarists and I feel that the former Federation's lack of military
strength led to the
subsequent attack by the Romulan Empire. Now, because of them, Earth is a
Romulan-occupied world. I send out a call to those wishing to join in the
glory
of fighting for the control of Earth and destroying the Romulans once and
for all!

NOTE: At this time, we are only recruiting Militarists due to the uneven
numbers of
members in the factions. We apologize for any inconvience this may cause.
Federationalist
recruitment will resume upon reaching equal numbers.
