Astronomy News is a phone-in newsline of recent astronomy news, operated by Sky and Telescope magazine. When I called a couple of weeks ago they were citing a 1 in 10,000 chance of a collision, given the current predictions of the comet's orbit. I think they were crediting Brian Marsden with this information (sorry if wrong credit). For anyone interested, the number is 617-497-4168, and the information is updated each Friday. Also, someone was wondering whether the collision is before or after perihelion. On this newsline I believe I saw an earlier posting indicating a July perihelion date, and an August 14 possible collision date.
