Hello, Thanks in advance for any light you folks can shed. Please copy me by email, as I do not get to check newsgroups much any more. *** MY PROBLEM *** I want my users to use PGP. We have a Novell network, and I *don't* want to distribute 40 copies of PGP. I want to have it in ONE place on the fileserver, and (I suppose) put the SECRING & PUBRING in each user's SYS:MAIL directory. Is this a bad idea? Are there ever created any temp files containing secret data? Thanx, -- Kerry D. Bad idea. I'm the LAN Manager for my Novell LAN and I wouldn't allow my
SECRING on any portion of that File Server!! And, yes, temp files *do*
get created, all over the place! What's the problem with having your
(40?) users run the program from floppy? The program is free, so there're
no royalties or licensing agreements to worry about. You could even set
up an option on the LAN to run a shell or menu of options for them all
from the LAN, checking first to make sure they've got the floppy in the
drive before trying to run anything. And, if you get a shell that can tie
in to your existing e-mail program, all the better! This way your users
keep their SECRINGs "secret" but can also run the program without having
to be logged in to do it, as long as they know what they're doing.
