This is a somewhat belated announcement of a new Macintosh version
of RIPEM.

Raymond Lau (the author of StuffIt) has created an entirely new
version of RIPEM for the Macintosh.  Although this new version
is still considered to be in beta testing, it is already generally
agreed to be a big improvement, usability-wise, over the current
RIPEM Macintosh port.

You can get Raymond's RIPEM from the FTP server ripem.msu.edu.
Look for /pub/crypt/ripem/binaries/ripem-macintosh-mac-0.6b3.sit.hqx.
As usual, you must have an account to access the crypto files
on this server.  See the file GETTING_ACCESS.

More advanced versions of Raymond's RIPEM are under development.
I would expect to see several updates over the upcoming weeks and
months.
