God is creating a militarized police state run by ignorant right-tard
fascists because he is Testing your children?

I would think there's rather more free will involved than most people want
to contemplate regardless of the (non)extance of God. Works done in good
faith are transferable, with suitable semantic mods, across frames of reference,
which leads me to believe that our evolution still has some ways to go.

The evolution of the human species has not come to an end. We're
already seeing people born without wisdom teeth, and a million years
from now the human species as we know it now could be very different in
many ways.

A ?million years? A million years ago we were beach apes that had
moved up to setting fires and eating road-kill.

A thousand years from now, and perhaps much sooner, we'll be existing
instantiated in a computational substrate with vastly enhanced
cognitive capabilities. Unless, of course, suicidal religious
fanatics manage to perpetrate some sort of grotesque global tragedy --
and I'm not talking about Muslims.

The existence or non-existence of God is a central tenet of religion.
As an atheist, I recognize that people who say there is a God often
think they _are_ God in the aggregate as believers, and use "God's
will" to project the responsibility of agency to the collective will,
and deny personal responsibility for actions taken in God's name.

In so far as your comments regarding good works, your conclusion is a
complete non-sequitur.

Atheists who must constantly revisit the Sky Faerie mythology to
convince themselves do not convince me. Work done in bad faith
is of no particular use outside the arm-reach of it's origin.

Sorry man. Out of 34,482,779 Canadians, I'm the one who likes the
"Canada's Economic Action Plan" commercials on television and love how
my government funds self serving propaganda.

The other 34,482,778 of you suck.

It took me years to understand faith and the diversity of it, and
decide to be an Atheist.

Ask how long it took a Christian, a Muslim, a Hindi or a Jew.

Probably not long.

My wisdom teeth were taken out when I was 19. My penis was
circumcised when I was born.

I was born unto the United Church of Canada.

But, my wisdom teeth were removed because they were packing my frontal
teeth and were going to cause a problem later on in life. My penis
was circumcised because my parents were Protestants, and somehow
thought that getting my foreskin cut off, to be like my Dad, my
Grandfathers, etc. Was the way!

The only surgical process that I have had in 54 years has been my
Wisdom teeth and my foreskin.

I still have my Tonsils and my Appendix.

I guess that's the way it was in 1958. I have many friends who have
their foreskins, but don't have their Wisdom teeth. Obviously, one
was for medical matters, the other was tradition, or if I was a Jew,
one of religious tradition.

Being Baptized under the United Church was probably one of the ten
times I attended Church. The other times where when I was going to
Sunday school and my folks wanted to dump me because they wanted a
Sunday afternoon together to get it on without the kid!

I am an Atheist. But I respect faith because I know too many people
of faith to be like that asshole Atheist Christopher Hitchens, who I
found repugnant because he had a hate on for good people who have
faith and use it to raise their children and get through times that
anyone knows when people need strength. There are more good people
of faith than there are not.

So the voices are talking to you, I sort of guess that was happening to you.

Bug Life, eh? I've got a Samsung S2 with what looks to be a fungal
pr bacterial infection spreading across the OLED substrate, so I wouldn't
think we'll want to entirely abandon physical existence so quick... if at all.

Ah, you mean the *Robot Wars*? There will certainly be some questions
about what it is to be human in fairly short order. The ReichWinge push
for a genetic definition of a "human" proceeds not merely from the desire
to constrain the Liberty of women but also out of a great fear of machines... Luddites.

The thing about consumer gear is that it is built cheaply so they can
screw you harder in your wallet. Quorum sensing, high-availability
fault-tolerant systems are what's required, not to mention better
software. That Samsung S2 is designed to spy on you, not to be
reliable and rugged.

Not necessarily. The Terminator scenario assumes that a meaningful
fraction of autonomous robotics control systems will be subject to
subversion with malware, which is rather unlikely unless the chip fabs
get in on the game. Biological warfare would be easier. Perhaps the
Taliban take over, get rid of all the scientists and engineers and
then dictate primitive living arrangements for whomever is left over.
If you don't like the Taliban, substitute "Military" and "police".

I am amused to read grandiose space operas such as the Dread Empire
series by Walter Jon Williams where millenia from now, the human race
has spread through the Galaxy, but yet still age and die in the
traditional fashion. The characters are invariably oblivious to this
glaring technological obscenity. The Star Wars saga is similarly
marred. Perhaps some writers have difficulty facing their own
mortality and are unable to write about advanced medicine with the
same ease with which they write of advanced weapons of war.
