The American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology both reccomend a a 3 percent tannic acid spray to make dust mite droppings less reactive and benzyl benzoate to kill dust mites. However, I have called to track down where I can obtain tannic acid and benzyl benzoate without success. Even my pharmist looks dumb upon my asking - hmmm makes me think about her mixing my drugs. I have obtained tannin from a brew your own beer store and assume that it has the proper acidic content ( although I would lke a better source). I have not found a source for benzyl benzoate nor do I know the right percentage to add to a water solution to make a spray for the carpet, and chairs, ect.... If you could help, I would breathe much better at the office. Thanks, Allergy Suffering Programmer

One would naively suspect that the treatment is worse than the
disease, however...
Get thee to an academic chemsitry library and pull "Chem Sources"
for all suppliers of chemicals in North America or Europe, plus
contact information.
In the near term,
40,304-0 Tannic Acid, ACS reagent 500g/$41.85
21,671-2 Tannic acid 500g/$22.46
B1,770-1 Benzyl Benzoate 1 kg/$23.70
Aldrich Chemical, http://www.sial.com/ aldrich@sial.com
Using said chemicals for purposes of human contact is a violation of
Aldrich sales policy. I hope you have some good patter for the War
on Drugs (bust you for having a beaker), Haz-Mat ($100-250K for the
chemicals' cleanup), and OSHA (which gets 80% of its operating
budget from levied fines).
Have a nice day.
