One cold December morning in 1995, I awoke to find it had snowed nearly
3 feet overnight. I watched as my neighbors cleaned the snow from their
cars and attempted to drive to work. I wondered how far they would get,
if they made it at all. I sighed in relief knowing that I would not
have to go through all that since my office was only a short walk from
my bedroom. Just then the phone rang, it was my boss. "How's it
going?", he asked, "Can you deliver a document to a client for me since
I am unable to commute to my office?". After we were through discussing
what needed to get done that day, I dialed into his office computer,
downloaded the document, looked through it for obvious errors, and
uploaded it to our client. It took all of one hour to deliver the
document to our client in California. I happened to look out the window
to see my neighbors still fighting with the snow.
I have been telecommuting for nearly 6 years now and the story above
actually happened. I am a Software Engineer with 16 years experience. I
don't make as much money as a Software Engineer with equal experience
who is located in New York, San Francisco, or Washington D.C. but I
don't have the hassles and expenses associated with commuting either.
Today, my wife and I own two homes one of which is a log home located on
nearly sixty acres in the Appalachian Mountains in the beautiful State
of Pennsylvania. I find that my work environment helps to keep the
stress down much more than if I had to commute to my employer's office
located over 190 miles from my home.
Have you ever dreamed of owning your own business but didn't want to
risk everything on an idea? Do you live in the snow belt and are so
disgusted that you're thinking of moving but can't right now? Did you
were dream of moving to the country where real estate is cheaper but
face a very long commute?
Cheer up, there's hope! My booklet "An Employee's Guide to Successful
Telecommuting" can show you how to:
Identify the benefits of telecommuting!
Convince your boss to give it a shot!
Earn extra money by moonlighting at home!
Keep yourself continuously employed at home!

My booklet also contains resources identifying companies looking for
telecommuters, help you can get from the federal government, and much
