Michael Villeneuve mrmick@sympatico.ca Ottawa, ON I have had over 6 years experience with documenting customer requirements (requirements specs), preparing architectures for specific and non-specific systems, data migration (including data mapping), SQL (Oracle,Access,MySQL, SQL Server) and systems analysis and design as well as web application development. I have used Perl for 6 years now and have worked extensively with DBI to interact with MySQL, and Oracle databases. Java, VB, and ASP have also been used for web-enabled solutions to various problems. One of my recent accomplishments has been to design, develop, implement and support a web based problem management system that I created using Perl to generate the interface (html form with JavaScript) and coupled with DBI to interface with MySQL on SOLARIS. The purpose of this project was to create a full-featured system to the user without him/her having to be burdened by the overhead of larger third party systems and to have the ability to use this from wherever they may be, regardless of the client platform (UNIX, WIN32, MAC) as long as they had a web browser. This had been tested and used with various versions of Netscape, IE, Mozilla, and Opera on different platforms. In short, this allowed the problem solver to solve the problem instead navigating through a large complicated set of menus and options simply to record the problem and its progress. Features included: keyword searches; filtering of records by user, usergroup, status; user authentication; assigning of ownership; automatic email notification to assignee; metrics retrieval for stats and root cause analysis. This tool was also capable of presenting unique options to the user based on the needs of his/her group without affecting other groups, therefore reducing unnecessary menu items and options for all. As either an employee or contractor I can provide the following services to your organization: Information Management Systems - Document Management, Data Conversion , System Migration & System Integration, Data Extraction & Automated Web Retrieval Report Generation - PDF documents, MSOffice, HTML publishing, customized/template based SQL databases - MySQL Specialist, Oracle, Access & SQLServer Unix Operations - Linux, Solaris Automation - Analysis of and solutions to redundancies in your environment as well as providing cost-effective task automation on UNIX and WIN32 platforms.
