The Performas were/are quite a nice little machine, I still have
one on the desk alongside me and another is on permannent loan to
my secretary.

The lack of CD is probably the limiting factor these days as so
many programs are on disk.

I think 7.6 is the latest that you'll run, but it's a good system
and 8 is not a brave new world in relation to 7.6 Frankly, I'd
stay with 7.5.5 and Netscape and Explorer 3

The upgrade solution is possible but a B&W G3 is worth going
without food for.

If memory serves correctly, the Performa uses a chip called
680LC40 or something like that, the LC stands for low cost and
the chip didn't have a math co-processor (or something like that)
which limits its ability to perform some more ambitious computing
functions. Therefore up-grade cards and the like are of dubious
worth/value.

Basically you have a good little machine, it will do most of the
normal business admin jobs with style, clean up the kid's
homework, run your family accounts, surf the net, and lever you
and yours into the technology age.
