You miss the point Rich. 

Sending you a fax with junk should then be considered my right to free
speech. But it is not. Spamming by fax is illegal ( I believe). Among
other things it costs the recipient (eg fax paper, phone line tied up,
etc. in addition to being harassing). Even if faxes were coming to a
Pc/Mac based fax program, and not "costing" anything directly I am sure
they would remain illegal to spam with.

The same way, IMHO, you should not be the victim of unsolicited junk
email. If the (descendents of scum) spammers want free speech, they can
say ANYTHING they want on their web site as no one is censoring them. If
they HAVE to, they could spam a newsgroup considering that "open public
space" but your mailbox is NOT free and open public space, at least I
think mine is not and should not be.

At worst, remember, Using the delete key COSTS you (whether it is time,
effort, energy, focus, heck.. extra wear and tear on the delete key).
