I manage to successfully use a Mac Plus to connect via PPP.
While it is possible under 6.07 and 1 meg, if you can upgradeto 4 meg,
your choices are much greater(you can even run MacWeb).

I had to find an older version of Mac PPP - 1.x to be sexact. Then
everything worked fine, other than memory and needing system 7.0

My solution was to find an older version of NCSA telnet (1.02 I believe)
and use it to connect as a free terminal. It does real VT emulation and
the whole setup is free - just plug in a 14.4 or 28.8 modem and you are set!

Current config:
1 meg mac plus, HD30(external) 1 meg ram.
running minimum system software(Installed that way off the floppies)
system 6.08. I have 650k free ram.

Installed Extensions/Panels(these are critical - newer versions won't
work very well) All were found with archie and d/l'ed.

PPP 1.1.3 - this is the newest version that will work on a plus reliably.
TCP 2.0.4 - The newer version works okay as well, but is a memory hog.
Appleshare 2.0.2 - this makes things work a lot easier
Now utilities extension manager. The above set of *3* things are all that
load. I have a setup "network" that does this. EVERYTHING else
is off, and is in the "defalut" set(which has the above three disabled)

Running software:
Telnet 2.6 - works like a charm! be sure to set the buffer to 32K in your
	control panels.
Fetch 2.1.1 - same here. critical, and this version works great.
Mosaic - any ancient version should work. If not, try MacWeb 1.0 or earlier.
(Most versions of MacWeb require 7.0, but a few older versions don't)

I am typing this right now with the above setup, so it works fine. No
color, but it works fine. With 4 meg, you can load the thing down and run
any current version of 7.0 and MacWeb. Huzzah!
