Recommended Screen Resolutions

Hi,

I have a Power Mac 5500/250 (which has what I believe to be a 15" AV
Multiple Scan Display, though I may be wrong).
Since I installed OS 8.6 with ColorSync 2.6.1, my recommended resolution
settings in the Monitors & Sound control panel have been wrong. 832x624,75Hz
(which is what it was set on when I did the upgrade from 8.1) is the only
one that's right.
I know that this can be got around with "show: all" in the control panel,
but I switch resolutions frequently, and having to pick the scan rates by
trial and error is a time consuming pain in the butt. I'm sure it's not good
for the monitor to be switching to incorrect scan rates all the time either.
Is there any way I can get the recommended settings to return to the correct
rates, and why would it have changed?

Cheers,

Ben

At lower resolutions you may find text clearer while at higher
resolutions you can fit more on the screen (menus, pallets etc.)

The 15" Display supports the following resolutions, colour depth and scan
rates:
640x480 8,16,32 bit 60-67Hz
800x600 8,16,32 bit 60-72Hz
832x624 8,16,32 bit 75Hz
1024x768 8,16 bit 60Hz

Tip: If you switch resolutions frequently and you have some resolutions
that aren't on the recommended list, holding down the control key while
clicking on the monitors resolution part of the control strip will show
all for you.
Saves you from digging into the control panels each time.
