Hi ! I've got a friend who has an old PowerBook 520 with a StyleWriter II. He has a built-in modem (PowerPort 500) in it as well. This thing is running PPP on System 7.1.1. But now he is connected to the ethernet and wants to connect his printer to the powerbook. But whenever, I tried to configure his printer to the printer port, I can get the printer to work. The displayed messages indicated that "the modem port is being used by another application". Now noticing that there's only one port serving as both printer/modem port, I figured that it must be the modem which must be conflicting with the printer port. So, i disable PPP and the PowerPort 500 control panel and extenstion and restarted the machine. The problem still persists indicating that the port is being used by an application. I couldn't figure out what other apps is using his modem port. Could anybody help me out with this problem. Thank you in advance. -- Ali Janah Abdullah Software Engineering Edith Cowan University E-Mail = aabdulla@student.ecu.edu.au

Have removed everything that i can think off that can conflict with the modem port but to no avail. Have done PRAM zap but still a no go. Maybe I should re-install the printer driver. -- Ali Janah Abdullah Software Engineering Edith Cowan University E-Mail = aabdulla@student.ecu.edu.au
