Hi All;
I have just finished seting my fathers SE30 8/80 with his files from
my Apple IIGs and installing Claris OfficeWorks v4. The system is
running system 7.1 as it refused to run system 7.5.5.
My question is can I install all or some of the program from Apple's
Internet Connection Kit. Iam mainly hoping for Open transport/MacPPP
and Claris Emailer.
Any help will be most gratefully welcomed. Thanks

Seems to be related to networking extensions and 32bit addressing (My SE/30 had fits when I tried to install 7.5.5, but I managed to get the little sucker on there and it works like a charm). > My question is can I install all or some of the program from Apple's > Internet Connection Kit. Dunno about Emailer, but I would expect it to be OK. > Any help will be most gratefully welcomed. Thanks Well, I hope this helped then. Download the report. I can't get e-mail.

From memory, I think you need Mode-32 to be installed on the SE30 for
it to drive System 7.5.5. If you opt for OT + MacPPP with hell lots of
system stuff on board, you will find out that you will really run low on
memory for major applications like Netscape.
Technically, its DOable. I ever did a PowerBook 100 to run on the
InterNet on System 7.5.5, but it's not recommended though (buying a copy
of RAMDoubler helps a lot too !).
You shouldn't need all of Apple InterNet Connection Kit's software,
just install what you need. If you are still on System 7.1, you will need
to install MacTCP, MacPPP (or FreePPP) and all the InterNet software you
wish to use.

The SE#0 doesn't necessarily have to be that slow or run out of memory using Netscape. From memory (no pun intended) with MODE32 installed, I think you can install around 128MB RAM. Not bad for a compact Mac, ay? From the PB5300 of RD -- Remy Davison
