Hi All;
I need to be able to decode multi and single emails and newsgroup
postings that have mime coded parts inside the post.
How is this done?
I have
for the Mac - the newsreader MacSoup
- for email Eudora and claris@emailer
for the pc - Free Agent
- Eudora

But Eudora can accept "filters" (Eudora Pro anyway, not sure about the freeware version). These enable you to pass selected messages to a given program. Messages are text files, beginning with a dummy line "From: ???@???". If you can't use filters, just let your program read a Eudoram mailbox file, ie foo.mbx. This is a sequence of messages, delimited as above. I think Agent uses a similar format (it's a Unix standard). Within a message, look first for a "MIME-Version: 1.0" line (version number might vary). This indicates there are MIME headers present. If so, look for line like boundary="---- =_NextPart_000_01BD45EF.BB7B8950" The quoted string is quite arbitrary, & is simply something that doesn't appear anywhere in the message. Such a line now marks off the various segments. (The line is absent if only 1 segment). There is a RFC which gives all the gory details, but I don't have it to hand. -- Dave Brooks <http://www.iinet.net.au/~daveb> PGP public key via <http://www.iinet.net.au/~daveb/crypto.html>, or servers

Save the file, then drag and drop onto either YA Base 64 or Stuffit Expander and they will separate or join into something useable.
