640x480 screen dark and small

	I just had installed a 3DFX Voodoo 3 2000 card with 16megs
memory. I have a problem with it though. When I try my games, the
screen goes much darker, and it only shows a much smaller box instead
of the full screen. My display setting is at 1024x768, but it does
this even with a lower setting. In fact, going all the way down to
640x480 it does it even without a game running, so it appears to be
something wrong with just that setting. My Deer Hunter 3 Gold does it
on the menu screens, but once the game portion starts, it goes back to
normal, full screen mode with no problems. Exiting back to the menu
produces the small dark screen again. It was also doing this in Rocky
Mountain Trophy Hunter 2, but when I switched from "full screen" to
"windowed," that was perfect, except of course it wasn't full screen,
and wouldn't maximize. Can anyone help?
My computer is a Compaq Presario 8772 with 48MB RAM, 200Mhz
MMX, and a 1525 monitor. I have disabled the S3 chip in CMOS, and in
the Windows Hardware Profile. And DirectX 7.0 is installed, along with
the latest 3dfx drivers (but not the beta version).

I managed to contact 3dfx tech support and they found a fix. I
had to go into safe made and change the refresh rate to Adaptor
default.
