Compaq Modem

I have a Compaq Presario 9240 which comes with the "Compaq 28.8
Data+Fax+Voice+VoiceView modem". I have been trying to get a new driver
from
Compaq that is updated for the Microsoft Unimodem V with no luck.
This modem is not recognized by the Unimodem operator or newer software
that requires TAPI compliance.

Does anybody know if there are newer drivers for this modem. Does anybody
know if this modem is compliant with the V.80 specification? This is
apparently required to do VideoPhone. If the modem is based on a Rockwell
chip, would they have newer drivers?

I am thinking about replacing the modem with a 56K Flex Voice Modem
and install it in Com 2. I have read messages from other people refering
to problems relating to the Compaq system no recognizing a new modem or
trying to reserve Com2 to the (no longer existing) Compaq modem and the
wave device for this modem.

Any comments or suggestions?
Thanks,

Ricardo
