You change the port setting under your BIOS setup (usually accessed by
pressing DEL or similar key at bootup).

stupid: I looked in the booklets. I guess you are one of those people who is
so arrogantly busy looking at there own ass, that they are to busy to show
some compassion.

Guamy : you might not know this, but the Compaq Contura 430c is a laptop
; you'd have a hard time squeezing the drive inside (and a lot of broken
plastic pieces on your hands).  If you do not have anything to say, do
not say it here.  
Try BIOS settings for the Contura.  Are you running Win95 ?
