We use the 410's and 610's and they are a very decent machine. Well
engineered and well supported. The 410's and 610's are out of the box and
away you go.

You can build a faster machine for less but expect some hair pulling going
that route getting everything to work properly. Bleeding egde bleeds for a
reason!

I also suggest looking at HP's Kayak line as they offer better performance
and are also very well built machines. They also offer better graphics card
choices then Dell - HP's top of the line OpenGL card is an amazing
performer.
