See below. : >Even then they will know something is funny when you need : >a replacement part and they request a credit card number : >and the name on the card is different than the name of the : >owner. : As far as I know, Gateway does *not* check this. You can use a : different credit card with a different name on it and they really : won't care. : I'm speaking from first-hand experience here. I never had reason, or : motive, to defraud Gateway; rather, I'm a consultant and sometimes had : to replace parts for my customers using my own credit card for : security. And it was never an issue. Techs were happy to help me, : were glad to talk to someone who knew what he was doing <g>, and : didn't care that my name/billing info didn't match up with what was on : the account. They just wanted to do their jobs, as tech support reps. Ben, Thanks for the additional information. Although I would never encourage anyone do anything illegal, immoral, or even fattening <g>, it would appear a non-original purchaser can get some support by saying they were paid to repair the system for the original owner. So I would guess the original owner could rent/lease the system to anyone and support would still available. Lease it for 20 years for a one time payment of $$$ and include in the deal a provision that the renter will keep it in good repair and he is paid $ to maintain it. Sounds like a plan to me <g> Regards, Dennis M. Maurer
