I have studied the computer mags on the 4GB Travan and DAT tape units and cant make my mind up on what to go for. The Travan units are half the price (or less) that the DAT units, but the DAT tapes are cheaper than Travan tapes. I will be using an Adaptec 2940 in a Gateway P90, but I really have no idea whether to go for Travan or DAT for Win 95? Can anyone please post there experiences (good or bad). SCSI DAT may indeed be much faster than the typical TRAVAN unit. Since Travan drives are so reasonable, I chose that for my tape system (Ditto 3200 External), I also bought a JAZ drive for really FAST backup... but the jaz disks are pricey at $100 / gig. FAST though. Copies 350mb in 7 minutes. That is SMOKIN for backup! I think there are some compatibility issues with the scsi card I am using, and I might upgrade to the better Adaptec 2940 or 2940UW. I can't run the backup at high speed in Win 95.
