In response to William Kang's rip of another, positive, posting:
| Yup! If you get a Gateway, too, you will NEVER ever need to call tech
| support JUST BECAUSE this guy never had to call them.
| And I'm sorry to hear you're unhappy.
| Meaningless posts that take one specific case (which is not even
| significant) and try to apply it to everything; sigh.

I am truely sorry, William, that you regard as meaningful posts
only those
that bitch and whine. I happen to agree wholeheartedly with the
poster you quoted.
I, too, have had a G2K 486DX2-66 for over two years. I have
added a couple more
hard drives, upgraded the bios to take 1.2GB drives (340MB was
the biggest on the
market when I bought my machine), and added a sound card and a
4x CD drive to the
system. It is equipped with the "infamous" Telepath I com card
and an "infamous"
CrystalScan 1572FS. The only problem I had, resolved in less
than 10 minutes with
Tech Support, was when I fumblefingered my CMOS configuration
without realizing
it (added a disk that did not exist). Ever since I got it it
has done the job for me. I do
have it hooked up to a UPS with surge and noise suppression, and
I have followed
standard practices (and carefully followed instructions!!) when
I have played around
inside the box.
I am now contemplating the purchase of a new machine for my wife
(to replace an
old 16MHz 386 that I can do no more to extend). I have gotten
information from
both Gateway and Micron, so I am comparing the offerings of the
two companies,
but I am still leaning toward another Gateway. I just need to
decide whether to
get a 133MHz machine or spring for a 166MHz.
The poster quoted above has the story right. I have been a
happy customer for
a good while now, and this is the first time I have been moved
to post in this
newsgroup in a long time. I probably would not have posted, had
your snide
comment not pissed me off.
