First of all, when I did my initial research for my new system,
Gateway would not even sell me a SCSI option. They said they didn't
have them. I don't know if that's their policy or if it was an error
but I went with Micron instead.
And let me tell you, am I glad that I did. So far I've installed
MSDOS/WINDOWS once, Linux twice, and OS/2 four times. Only for the
MSDOS install did I have to even reach for my BusLogic driver disk.
And that's a good thing :-). SCSI CD-ROM, same thing. (BTW, all of
the reinstalls were because I kept futzing with OS's and partitions,
not because of the equipment or original installation).
All around, Micron packs a high quality, well configured set of
components that minimizes incompatabilities, especially when running
varied systems. I can't help beaming because I'm still impressed. Of
course, your mileage may vary.
