I have now had a few replies from various people, so rather thna eMailing them
all, I though I would try for a coordinated efforrt via this post.

I have noted the following points in my attempts:

  1) I have both PC-NFSPro and WfW3.11 installed in non-standard directories
(don't know if this matters), and when I start a serial configuration of
PC-NFSPro, the system complains about not being able to find the PCNFSWIN.INI
file. Yet as the Remote link manager has all the correct information, the
system _must_ have located the correct ini file. This is currently the subject
of a bug report to SUN Australia. (Are they a bit behind the times ??)

  2) When I attempt a non-interactive connection via the Remote link manager,
it ignores the 'dial.scr' script with my specific modem configurations in it.
Instead it just uses the phone number in the Serial configuration. And will
then go on to connect using the 'login.scr'.

  3) When I attempt an interactive connection via the Remote link manager, it
again uses the Serial configuration phone number when the 'dial' button is
pressed, but uses the 'dial.scr' when I press the 'start script' button.

Making use of point 2) above. I believe I can contact my ISP using a simple
login script. But that it is the Advanced PPP configuration that I feel is
letting me down.

Thus it is this are that.

BTW the FTP client program that is supplied with PC-NFSPro 1.1 breaks with the
definition in the RFC959 "File Transfer Protocol (FTP)". SUN uses the file
spec field to append an addition command line option to the remote systems file
listing command (either 'dir' or 'ls' etc ). This is a big NO-NO. Their
approach works fine for UNIX compatible systems, but falls over for non-UNIX
compatibility. Do later versions of the client FTP client suffer from the same
problem? I have stopped using the PC-NFSPro FTP, and now use the WS FTP
client. I also have a bug report with SUN about this problem.

Again please eMail me, as the news feed I use can be very bad for latency, and
sometimes I never even see half the messages that are posted.

BTW I am using PC-NFSPro 1.1 with the Jumbo patch 102467-2

Regards
Peter
