request for info about front panel controls on GDM-17E10 monitor

Hi,

I've acquired a Sun/Sony GDM-17E10 colour monitor which I'm using in place
of the larger, but too cumbersome and power-hungry GDM-1962B which was
previously in it's place. I'm trying to figure out the function and
operation of the push-button controls on the front panel.

The brightness and contrast controls require no explanation...

Specifically, I'm unsure of exactly how to use the 'select' button and how
the brightness and control up/down buttons *interact* with the 'select'ed
function control to actually adjust/configure the monitor.

Also, what is the purpose of the 'ctrl' button? The 'reset' button
presumably resets the adjustable parameters to default settings...

I haven't taken the cover off yet, but presumably inside the cover somewhere
are adjustments to compensate for pincushioning, focus, etc. which aren't
covered by the front panel controls?

TIA for any information you can provide. I'm going to set up a web page for
these monitors if I get enough useful feedback since Sony monitors are one
area that is distinctly lacking in information, especially the more recent
models that Sun have used.

As an aside, I'm very impressed with the 17E10's performance in 1280 x 1024
mode. Something I did notice was that even though the Field Engineer
Handbook says that this monitor can only work at 76 Hz, it happily works at
66/67 Hz in both 1152 x 900 and 1280 x 1024 modes. 8-)

Regards,

Craig.
