Hello,

I'm trying to get one of the Netscape beta binaries (Navigator and/or
Communicator) for SunOS 2.3 or 2.4 (that's all that's available on the
Netscape ftp site) working with SunOS 5.5.1, X11R6.3 (my own build), and
lesstiff 0.77 as the Motif library, however Netscape falls over with the
following message:

ld.so.1: netscape: fatal: relocation error: symbol not found:
_XmMsgPanedW_0004: referenced in netscape

I posted a message to the lesstif mailing list and was told that this is
actually a problem with one of the functions in the lesstif library, but the
result, regardless of whether it be a problem with Netscape or lesstif is
that I can't use Netscape.

Does anyone know of a fix for this? What does the error message actually
mean? Has anyone been able to successfully correct the problem and get
Netscape to work with the same environment as I'm using?

Remember that I'm not using Sun's Openwindows since it's only X11R5, and I'm
running X11R6.3, so I can't use the Motif library from the Solaris
distribution CD as it's completely incompatible with the X libraries from
the R6.3 build.

I'd be interested to read your comments/ideas/etc.

Ack! I meant the SunOS 5.3 or 5.4 binaries.

This message results no matter which binary I use. The SunOS 5.3 one (which
I believe is statically linked since it's bigger and doesn't look for as
many X libraries) and the SunOS 5.4 one both give the same error message.
