Michio Kaku Author of "Visions: How Science Will Revolutionize the 21st Century and Beyond" will be chatting on Monday, November 10 at 6:30 PM (PT) (Tuesday, November 11 at 2:30 AM GMT) on Star Trek: Continuum (http://www.startrek.com). Dr. Michio Kaku is an internationally recognized authority in theoretical physics and also the environment. He has written 9 books; his latest, "Visions: How Science Will Revolutionize the 21st Century and Beyond," is becoming a national best seller. He hosts a weekly hour-long radio program on science on WBAI-FM in New York, and his commentaries on science can be heard on 60-radio stations nation-wide. Dr. Kaku graduated from Harvard in 1968, summa cum laude, and number one in his physics class. He received a Ph.D. from the Univ. of Calif. at Berkeley Radiation Laboratory in 1972. He held a lectureship at Princeton University in 1973. He then joined the faculty at the City Univ. of New York, where he has been a professor of theoretical physics for over 20 years. He has published over 70 physics articles in areas which include superstring theory, supergravity, supersymmetry, and hadronic physics. He is the co-founder of string field theory. His new book "Visions: How Science Will Revolutionize the 21st Century and Beyond" is a spellbinding narrative that skillfully weaves together cutting-edge research among today's foremost scientists, theoretical physicist Michio Kaku--author of the best-selling book Hyperspace--presents a bold, exhilarating adventure into the science of tomorrow. In Visions, Dr. Kaku examines in vivid detail how the three scientific revolutions that profoundly reshaped the twentieth century--the quantum, biogenetic, and computer revolutions--will transform the way we live in the twenty-first century. The fundamental elements of matter and life--the particles of the atom and the nucleus of the cell--have now been decoded, closing one of the great chapters of scientific history. But this is just the preface to an even more far-reaching scientific revolution, as we make the transition from being passive observers of the mysteries of nature to becoming masters of nature, able to manipulate matter, life, and intelligence to remold the world around us. Dr. Kaku will discuss his new book and projects his is working on. He will also talk about how his vision of the future and how Star Trek's version of that future may or may not be the same.
