I have a problem, and hope that someone can help me out. I am trying to
put figures at the top of the following page in troff and using the
ms macro package. I am doing this for two reasons. First, I really want
the figure at the top of the page. Second, .KF (keep float) meses up
if the figure is two pictures side by side (uses .mk and .rt), or single spaced
text when the document is double spaced. At the beginning of my document file I
have
. \" append this to the new page macro
.am NP
. xx
. rm xx
..
and then later I have
.am
'so a_filtered_figure
.ce
a nice caption
..
where a_filtered_figure is a figure already run through pic, eqn, or what have
you.
The problem: if the last sentence on the page breaks across the page then one
word appears before my figure and the rest of the sentence appears after it.
E.g.
This doesn't
---- new page
work
-----------------------------------------

a nice figure

-----------------------------------------
the way I want it to!
If the previous page ends with the end of a sentence or a paragraph
then everything works fine, no orphaned words.
By the way, I am running on SunOS 4.0, using the normal packages as far as I
know.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
