Hi everyone! I shaved my legs for Halloween. Since then the hair has grown back nearly completely. I had very hairy legs, but now, although the length of the hair is very nearly what it used to be, the hair is only about 75% as dense as it used to be. Does anyone know if this'll change? Also, when it grew back over the first couple of weeks after I shaved, it itched like crazy! Are there any suggestions out there on how to minimize itching? Also, how do I minimize post- shaving rashes? ( I had a terrible one on my chest after shaving it ) Finally, I also had a ton of ingrown hairs on my thighs that caused red bumps. At first I went after the hairs with a needle, but since then, after finding all visible hairs, I still have these red bumps which means that somewhere in the bumps, there's a hair lurking. What should I do? Thanks for the advice! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To find out more about the anon service, send mail to help@anon.penet.fi. Urghh! I had this problem, but only once. I learned *not* to shave
the backs of my thighs where I sit. I found that lots of talcum powder
helps some. My advice is "don't do it again" :-)

According to an electrolysist I once visited, hair grows in major and minor cycles. The major cycle is: Start growing, grow, stop, fall out, start growing, grow, stop, fall out, ... The minor cycle (during grow) is: Slow down, pause, speed up, slow down, pause, speed up, ... Probably a significant percentage of the hair on your legs before you shaved was either in the "slow down" or "stop" stage. In either of those, the hair is still there, but is not growing (or not very fast.) So when you shave it off, it either does not grow out again or does so very slowly. When those hairs reach either the "start growing" or "speed up" stage, your legs should fill in as they were. -Alan

I had the same experience! Actually, I shaved in early October, and I'm amazed how sparser my leg hair seems. Flies in the face of the urban legend (whether true or false) that shaved hair is supposed to grow back stronger/thicker/whatever. Anyway, it seems to have stabilized like this. Kinda weird. Russ
