There is a patch from microsoft, which fixed some shutdown problems.


But i found that windows 98 does this 'wont shutdown' thing anyway.


if you wait about 30 seconds on the "windows is shutting down' screen,

then press the reset button and straight away power off, you are sure that
the filesystem is unmounted cleanly (so that it doesnt do a filesystem check
"scandisk" next time ) and that you wont power off during a write (because
reset will clear things away )
