Your network can be setup physically anyway you want.

The server (computer running ICS) needs a separate "device" to connect to the
internet than it uses to connect to the internet.

If you use a dial-up connection, you will need a NIC connecting the server to
the LAN and the modem connecting to the Net.

If you have a cable modem, you most likely use a NIC (network interface card)
to connect to the cable modem. Or the cable modem itself is a NIC. This NIC
cannot be the one which connects the server to the LAN (your network). So,
you'll need two NICs then -- one connecting to the LAN and one connecting to
the Net.

If you want to use a HUB, you can. You just need to make sure you have your
DNS settings in the clients properly designated. I know it all sounds rather
complex, but it's not.

Most likely you already have everything setup properly already.
