Hi I have the DVD drive as above with firmware 1.7A (BTW, can the firmware be upgraded and is it worth doing?), running Win98 with PII 350 and 128 Mb RAM. I have been trying to rip my CD collection and convert to MP3 format, but my drive seems to have a problem with the Digital Audio extraction process; I usually get some kind of popping noise when I play the resultant MP3 file. When I switch to analogue extraction it works well. Has anyone had success using this drive and which software do you use to rip and encode? I was using Musicmatch Jukebox ver 4.00.0092, but am willing to try anything that does the job properly. I also made sure that there was nothing else hogging CPU resources during the recording process, and the CD's are immaculate. Thanks for your help Frank. -- e-mail anti-spammed; you know what to do...
