Keep in mind that the registry is a database and removing several dozen or
even several hundred entries will not likely make a huge difference in the
file size of user.dat and system.dat.  When items are deleted from the
registry they are marked to not be read as opposed to being removed and new
items are simply added to the end, which is why scanreg used with the /fix
and /opt switches will trim the size (rebuilding registry without dead
entries and compacting)

You could use regedit.exe to manually remove bad entries but if they're not
causing problems I doubt the return is worth any risks.  Whatever you do,
make extra registry backups before experimenting too much.
