My PCI-steering has "always" been disabled and showing errors, and never caused a
problem. However, I did find a few this for you:
I. ================
Disable/Adjust PCI~IRQ Steering
**Should be off-line to do this**
1.)Right click on ' My Computer '
2.)Select ' Properties ' from the pop-up menu
3.)Select the ' Device Manager ' tab of System Properties
4.)Tick on ' View Devices by type ' and open ' System Devices ' found at the
bottom of the device tree
5.)Highlight ' PCI bus ' and click on the ' Properties ' button
6.)Adjust or Disable the settings under the ' IRQ Steering ' and/or '
Settings ' tab to get the desired results.
FIRST try changing the device enumeration under the settings tab from
hardware to bios. This does the trick in many cases.
7.)Click on ' OK ' and follow the instructions to reboot.
II. ============================
Bulletin #20: Windows 98 IRQ Steering disabled with USB enabled in the BIOS
Last modified: 08/18/99
Article: t-20.html
This information applies to:
VIA chipsets
Windows 98
Problem:
Windows 98 IRQ Steering disabled with USB enabled in the BIOS.
Solution:
Windows 98 may show messages like "IRQ steering disabled" and "IRQ table
has some errors" when USB is enabled in the
BIOS using VIA chipsets. The reason is that the BIOS does not report the
USB device in the IRQ routing table. Windows 98
will detect the USB device but will not find the USB device in the IRQ
table thus will disable IRQ steering. This will not effect
system stability. Windows 98 will not route IRQs by itself and will
instead use IRQs routed by the BIOS.
