Undeletable Autoexec.bat entries

I wonder if anyone knows why when I delete the following entries from
autoexec.bat, they magically re-appear after the next boot. I have tried
REMming them out, deleting them completely and disabling them in MSCONFIG
without success. They always reappear at the next boot.

HELP!

The following lines are what i'm trying to get rid of (I don't use DOS games
or applications and don't need sound support for them)

SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6
SET CTSYN=C:\WINDOWS
C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\SBLIVE\DOSDRV\SBEINIT.COM

An article in Smart Computing said it was OK to get rid of these:

c%2Ebat

Thanks in advance!

See if these same lines also appear in the system.ini file. System.ini can
update the autoexec.bat file. To check if they are really needed, put a
semi-colon (;) in front of each of these lines in the system.ini file.

Ok, normally i have found that there is a sound blaster program running on
windows startup that is putting them back in. Off the top of my head i cant
remember what it is. One way of seeing if this is the case is to use
msconfig to take out all of the startup programs, and see if it stops
putting the lines back in. If so, then its just a case of figuring which one
puts the lines in.

HTH

Pete.

Do you actually have a Soundblaster card? If you do, you should think
twice about removing the 1st & 3rd lines above. They are used to
allow easier DOS Mode use of your sound card.
