The psychological term to describe what Albert is referring
to is called 'projection'.
:Believe me, I've seen "hostile" around here and I haven't
:gotten anywhere near that.
Albert gets more than a bit hostile at times but he's
more amusing than anything else.
:Now, then again, perhaps the "ideas" themselves are "hostile"
:ideas to ISPs who want to cheat and rob consumers.
Yes--that's most likely what he is referring to. The very
notion of Consumer Rights on ISPs must horify the guy. Most
businesses treat customers well--especially if they're taking
their money week after week. But there's a lot of throw
back to the old BBS days of the 'Sysop is King' mentality
whereas now the vast majority are paying customers and the
'Sysop is Servant' is much more appropriate--they work for
their customers as in any other business that sells their
services or products. I'll never quite understand why they
feel they are somehow special and not accoutable for rather
serious ethical infractions that occur quite often (censorship,
plug pulling, busy signals when they've already sold unlimited
service, lack of bandwidth when they've already sold their
service, etc.).
:That could very well be the case.
Could be--still think it's projection.
:However, I don't think that simple illustrations quite
:qualify as hostile. I will say, however, I am generally
:hostile to ISPs cheating and scamming people.
Yes--that gets my blood boiling as well. Consumers
that have prepaid for unlimited accounts and then are
met with busy signals or poor system performance during
prime time are victums of fraud and should report the
matter to their states Attorney Generals office--most
have web sites where filing a complaint is as simple
as point and click.
:: Why'd this happen? Are you trying to impress Boursy?
:
:Are you worried? Is he reading these?
Of course--I read both news.admin.censorship and
austin.internet every day. Quite seriously if
you ignore the name calling it's one of the best
theads that's hit news.admin.censorship in a long
time--there's actually substance to it thanks to
you and several others . Albert seems a bit paranoid
and does not want these matters openly discussed.
