The Canadian Homolka trial highlights a problem shared with the UK and US 
legal systems: the wheels of justice seem to be grinding ever more slowly. 
If the matter had been tried speedily, there would be no need to worry about
banning anything.

The courts systems are all overloaded , of course, but given the seriousness 
of the charges, one would expect such a case to get a high priority (how
many murder cases are there at any one time in Canada ?)

I would be interested to see Wired investigate just what technology could
be used to speed up the legal system, Virtual juries ? Expert Systems for
helping to interpret legal language and procedure? Genetic Algorithm 
scheduling of court appearances ?

The present systems are just too slow and expensive. Will the "Infobahn"
allow things to be swifter , less expensive and more just ?
