Basic economics tells us that when there is more demand than supply,
prices should go up. That was the case here. The price increase does not
seem to have slowed the influx of new customers, even at the higher
speeds. I'm stunned by this, but it really is the case. Even the waiting
list has continued to grow. People continue to even opt for the $48 per
month 128,000 bps max Full Access selection! I don't understand it, but I
don't bother questioning it. The more money that comes in the better
upgrades we can make in retention, bandwidth, and robustness. It also
increases our ability to fight the government if they choose to seize the
equipment.

However, I realize many of you stuck with us through very bad times,
retention wise, and that loyalty should not go unrewarded. Therefore,
anyone who was a customer before 8/1/98 and did not cancel, now has the
ability to adjust their services selection using the pre-10/1/98 pricing
scheme (ex. Full Access is $10 per 32,000 bps). To do this, please send
your request to support@alt.net with the subject line "LOYAL CUSTOMER
WANTS GOOD DEAL". This offer is good until the end of 1998. I am not
joking.
