Hey guys,
I bought an Amiga 2500 and a Commodore 1084s monitor a long time ago
new(90 I think). I havn't used it since, and I was wanting to restore
it when I get the funds and was wondering how much a new motherboard
would cost for it. And where would I find one? I am afraid I didn't
store it very well. Also could anyone tell where the Amiga's are now,
last I checked the 3000 was top of the line.
Thanks

Hi Rick
You might find it difficult to obtain a replacement motherboard. The
only ones still available in any quantity are the A1200. This and the
A4000(T) were the last design produced by Commodore before its demise.
In the intervening time the Amiga has pased through a number of hands
all of whom failed to make anything significant happen. The new owners
are Amiga fans and are making some radical plans.

You should consider trying to get the machine you have up and running
as amigas have been known to survive quite a lot of abuse. However one
problem that can be fatal is if the battery leaks and eats its way
though the PCB damaging tracks. If you have any stuff around the
battery then this needs to be cleaned away as quickly as possible.

I hope this has been of some help.

They haven't been manufactured for about ten years. The chances of finding
a new one would be remote in the extreme. Find a good working second hand
one. Check ebay, or post a wanted ad in comp.sys.amiga.marketplace.

That must have been a whle or two ago! After the A3000 came the A1200 and
A4000, and the CD32 console. There have been no Amigas made for about four
years.
