HELP: Battery orientation on A2000.

I have an A2000 that the battery has been removed from due to a leak
................. motherboard is ok but.
The original battery had two legs at one end and one at the other
......................... which is the + end?
I don't have another 2000 to look at and I can't find any notations in my
spec sheets nor on the motherboard.
Can I replace this battery with a standard 2 leg 3.6v VARTA style PC
battery?

Thanks in advance.

I didn't even replace the battery, I just moved it to the outside of the case,
and attached wires to the motherboard.

But mine wasn't leaking if it is then I would chuck it.

All 3 of my A2000's had 3 legged Varta Batteries soldered into the
board. They are all revision 6.2 boards. Can mess up the installation
when you have 3 legs. :)

The end with 2 leads is positive. If you go to a store that stocks those
batteries, ask to see one that has 2 pins on one and one pin on the
other.

Yes, you can use that battery, if it is in the range of about 60mAhr.

Standard disclaimers apply.

Suggest you don't replace the battery on the motherboard at all.

DSE stocks a few different 3.6v NiMH battery packs with
flying leads which are suitable. They coast about $10-$15.

NiMH batteries are far less prone to leakage, plus you can
mount the battery away from the motherboard anyway.

The end with 2 pins on the battery you have is +ve by the way.

Cheers,
Leslie

The "+" is close to the border of the board, the "-" close to the MC68k

Two legs positive.

Yes. There's no reason for the tewo positive legs to be connected. They go
into the same track on the board.
