Hi, Why when I open few windows in my workbench screen my CHIP MEM goes low, I had a Picasso IV before that and if remember well my CHIPMEM always stay to 2Megs. Another thing in my Screenmode prefs program I can't reduce de number of colors of the 24/15 and 15bits modes, only the 8 bits mode and native modes. I try to boot from a backup of the time of my old Picasso IV card but samething happened... I don't know what yo try now? I have another problem related to the Concierto card... AmigaAmp stop playing if I goe to another window, I have to press STOP then PLAY and the MP3 file play again, sometimes my A4000 completely freeze after doing that. Thank you. Bye!

From your post it seems that - you used to have a Picasso IV card but no longer - you use a backup from those days If the above is true then: This is normal/expected behaviour. Chip ram is used to display native windows and to play native sound./ If you have more windows open, your chip ram will decrease. The picasso board has its own memory, so chip ram always stayed at 2 Meg (it simply wasn't used). Mike Musterd a οΏ½crit : > From your post it seems that > - you used to have a Picasso IV card but no longer > - you use a backup from those days > No I had a Picasso IV before then my system was stolen in March 2001, I have a new A4000 with a Picasso IV, I notice before march 2001 that my chip mem will stay to 2 Mb but now with my new system the Chip Mem dropped rapidely when I open some windows, there is something that makes all the icons eat my Chip MEM and also I can't use to the slider to reduce the number of colors in the screenmode preference program (the slider is alway ghosted except for Picasso 8 bits and native amiga screen.). My english is not very good... hope this time it's more clear? > > If the above is true then: > This is normal/expected behaviour. I had a similar problem until I noticed the ILBM PPC datatype I had installed needed to be configured specially for RTG screen. Z
