I hope you will read - Top Of The Day - To You !

You may remember me as "Shall I get it BACK" & "The Squirrel is POISED" !

I had some GOOD and Helpful, Friendly suggestions, from group members -
Which I appreciate, SO - IT'S BACK IN USE ! - and once again I am an
"AMIGAN" thanks to some of you suggesting various advice.

And to the guy who RIDCULED my Temporary Television Idea - The Grundig Nicam
22" with the A/V in on the front - that's as far as I am likely to go -
because of lack of knowledge AND SPACE - FOR THERE IS BARELY ROOM FOR ME IN
MY CORNER NOW is totally adequate for MY USE.

O.K. If I did not use the P.C. - I would not be able to communicate through
the web &c., so I license the time spent on ONE - to do things that "I"
can't do with the other. I had no cause to say that - but HONESTY always
happens when I communicate, pathetic - but has't done me down so far: The
reason why I say this - is YOU WOULD NEVER BELIEVE what's coming
............

It's been A YEAR - from the time I parted with MY AMIGA, To NOW. It's Right
Beside Me: SO ?

Well - I Had a DOSE of The HAPPY NEW YEAR 96 ( which I cleared up ) before
letting it go.

So Now it's BACK & So IS THE [ *^$%?,*^%*] VIRUS - but the thing is - it's
NOT IMPORTED.
I regret to announce "IT LIVES HERE" : I SHOULD BE ASHAMED and I AM - but I
DID NOT CREATE IT [ I COULDN'T CREATE A VIRUS - SHORT OF GOING TO COLLEDGE
! ]

Originally, everything was HUNKY DORY. I Keep a COPY of "MY adaptation of
WB3.0" in my WORK ( I've sub - divided the 250M - HD into 5 Sections ) (I
did have 4G in there but nicked it for the P.C. - who said that ..... ? well
don't you do that kind of thing when you sell - cosidering the 250 had
hardly been touched, durig that YEAR it had not been with me !)

Obviusly, I had the TASK of findind the SOFTWARE to put BACK - which made
usable space when I let it go. Well I found many of my old SPECIALS hidden
on the 11 C.D.s I have for AMI, yes C.Ds. Will always come true - it's JUST
remembering where they're HIDDEN. I used to get AUI - FORMAT & MAGAZINE
regularly, I WAS SOULY AMIGA!

I was fairly CHUFFED with myself having spent the DAY re-loading a LOT of
the Utils &c. I was around THREE QUARTERS (I guess) Of what I intended to
work with. I should make clear the fact that it was ONLY used as a WORD
PROCESSOR while not under my juristriction, therefore nothing was IMPORTED;
any-way - I decided to load my VIRUS PROTECTION. Let me try to describe: it
is the one that laeves a resident ICON on the (empty) woprkbench screen -
Where the DISC ICONS "LIVE" - from a headder - bar, there is an optional
pull - down, where you can direct it to go through your desired disks or
parts of. I don't suppose that means a lot. well a lot of the year - 97
C.Ds - from the front of books had it...................

IMPORTANTLY - I found a version on "C.U. SUPER 20" C.D. (you may WELL have
this).
The program used to work fairly well when I had it running before, but IT
WAS NOT FROM THIS C.D. FOR AS SOON AS IT WAS INSTALLED - EVERYTHING
barring FONTS ) let's say EVERY APPLICATION had Happy New Year 96. By the
time I had run through my USER W.B. it had registered probably IN EXCESS OF
THREE HUNDRED TIMES. Now I have been "IN THE BACK" of some of the
functions - and seen this WRITTEN amongst the TEXT that makes the progam
FUNCTION.

The point is if I've got ***** *** **** 96 - some 300+ times in my
Workbench, it runs PRETTY SMOOTHLY as a result.

For those who are "BLESSED" never to have seen it - it simply WRITES
ITSELF - SOMEHERE - ANYWHERE - into ANYTHING - EVERYTHING it's POSSIBLE to
write TO - SPONTANEOUSLY !

Some applications it doesn't matter too much - but it reaps havock in the
START UP DRAWER & "S" - since the 1200 has to read the unnecessary line X no
of times - while loading - and crashes - as a result of not being able to
run at it's expected schedule !

Basically I'M SITTING ON A "BOMB" - which I have bought (obviously being
totally unaware) - what, where and when.

Someone - a little more computer literate than me MAY know the best way to
search it out - or where it "LIVES" - like on a GIVEN - C.D. &c.

I was SURE that I had traced it back to a CRUNCHED FLOPPY, and related the
fact to it's supplier, keeping the evidence for reference ( It's still in
its bag ! ) I should apologise now I guess to the company concerned.

This has EITHER BEEN ASLEEP on the AMIGA or has been RE INTRODUCED from a
BRANDED COMPACT DISK {DORMANT FOR A YEAR ?}

I am DEEPLY SORRY that this letter is so long : and THANK or CONGRATULATE -
indeed ANYONE who has taken the trouble to follow it through. For although
it appears to be a nice little BED TIME STORY for the viewer, for those
stuck with HAPPY NEW YEAR '96 - it is a NIGHTMARE. For I would need to
replace my H.D. W.B. + Back-up if I were to believe what I have seen, or, I
can continue to use it since WB seems - currently to operate quite well
regardless.

Come on guys & guyesses - especially those of you who bid me go back to
AMIGA - I DON'T REGRET IT - BUT - I  really need your HELP. :-{

Since I may not view the club on a regular basis - I would be pleased if
ANYONE with GENUINE HELP or interest in mind e-mail me direct @ the
following, although I will visit the group again, soon, hopefully !

Avon.

ANTICIPATED APPRECIATION ;-I
