I am posting here in addition to having e-mailed newsmaster@aol.com, in compliance with the form letter which I received in response to my e-mail. In addition to being the moderator of alt.support.childfree.moderated, a Usenet group created five or six weeks ago, I am also an AOL subscriber. AOL just added ascm to its available newsgroups within the last 24 hours or so. I posted a "test" message to the group from my AOL account tonight, and was dismayed to find that it failed to turn up in the moderation queue at all, and is already visible on the newsgroup ONLY when viewed from AOL, not from other servers. It is my understanding that this combination of circumstances generally indicates that a group has been misconfigured as an UNmoderated group on the individual news server. I also am informed that this condition will result in AOL members' posts not being seen by others who are reading via correctly configured servers. As there are about 50 AOL members contributing to our "parent" (unmoderated) group who will undoubtedly wish to participate in the moderated group, we are hoping for prompt attention to this matter from AOL's Newsmaster. If anyone has any suggestions, light to shed, etc., it will be most welcome. Thank you. -- Michelle
