I am the Webmaster of the site www.gambling.com. The site is heavily Cold Fusion based, and uses the technology in part to deliver personalised pages to visitors of the site. For example, the home page welcomes registered visitors back to the site by name (via the use of a cookie and an integrated database). Over the past two weeks, many visitors to the site using AOL have been incorrectly identified as another person when viewing the siteοΏ½s pages. This appears to be the result of the visitor viewing a cached version of the page in question, rather than a fresh copy of the page personalised for them. I have looked at the AOL site for advice to Webmasters and AOL claim that they abide by all the relevant conventions regarding caching. Our pages have been written to avoid their content being cached, and until recently this was true, but the situation with AOL has for some reason recently changed. Access via all other ISP seems unaffected, and the problem only appears when using the AOL client browser. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Does anyone know if the AOL caching systems have recently changed? Are you the Webmaster of a site that is experiencing similar problems with AOL users? Please respond with any thoughts you may have. -- Webmaster, Gambling.com http://www.gambling.com
