I have a very strange problem. I am using the latest RedHat release 5.0 A scsi disk error (causing bus resets) using a Buslogic BT-958W and Quantum Atlas III 4.3GB Drives has resulted in filesystem damage. (I have been in touch with Leonard Zubkoff author of the Buslogic driver and have received fixes for the errors.) However, the file damage still exists and FSCK does not fix it!!! with an ls -al the results in the /etc directory contain entries like the following: ?--xr-Sr-t 26740 29285 8302 170173613 Jan 25 2026 fdprm Strange I know! I can't remove the file as an error stating "Read Only Filesystem" is all I get (even though /etc is mounted RW) CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS???? Or at least delete the files so I may reinstall them !! Is there a utility to edit the directory entries so that I can manually remove them?? HELP! Please e-mail suggestions to: Reid Eby reby@ilos.net

Well you know when you get the file names that start and end with a # sign. You have to delete them as follows: The file name: #group# to delete it type: rm ?group? So I belive that you have to do the same thing. rm ?8302? -f -f = force or possibly do the following: chmod 777 8302 which will change the file to rwrwrwrw then rm ?8302? -f I could be wrong, let me know if that works....
